Outdoor Winter Reception Tips

When a couple plans their wedding, they often consider the spring and/or early summer first, and it’s not hard to see why. The weather is wonderful, flowers and trees are in full bloom, and the school year is winding down, making travel easier for families with children. However, venue prices can be harder to find and reserve since so many other couples are thinking along the same lines, and prices are at a premium due to the popularity of the season. Why not consider a winter wedding and an outdoor winter reception instead?

The romantic ambiance of a frosty or snowy landscape can make your event completely unforgettable, while the competition for vendors and venues will be pretty light, lessening the stress of planning. Lower prices can be a great benefit of choosing to have an outdoor winter reception this time of year, too!

Winter in Tennessee is pure loveliness and can often be relatively mild, so while you are planning your winter wedding and wedding reception you may want to consider taking it all out of doors. Think of the unique decorating possibilities! You can choose hues with frosty undertones that will mesh perfectly with your natural surroundings, or you may want to go with bold jewel tones that will sparkle under the evening lights that can be strung in surrounding bushes and trees, for example.

Here are a few outdoor winter reception tips for you to consider as you plan:

  • Keep warm. You will, of course, be considering everyone’s comfort, and there are a lot of ways you can keep everyone warm at your outdoor winter reception. Using fire-pits, torches, candles, and lanterns scattered around the grounds will help to bring some heat and romantic light to the event. If it is really nippy, you can always rent outdoor heaters, too. Provide shawls and hand-warmers in complementary colors and materials; these can be keepsakes of your celebration, as well.
  • Keep dry. An event tent is easy to reserve, and there are many styles to choose from. You can raise the side panels for sunnier conditions, or keep them lowered if it gets damp. Whether it’s snowing or raining, a tent will keep everyone dry and the party can continue, no matter what! Your party rental company can provide couches, tables, and comfy chairs that can be set up for conversation, and don’t forget the dance floor! This can be inside your tent or out of doors – your choice.
  • Smart Footwear. Keep in mind that the condition of the ground may not be ideal, so bring several pairs of shoes. You may even want to have “Wellies” available!
